How to crochet a little cat applique`
Appliques are perfect for scrap-booking, embellishing your hair accessories, hats, pants, shirts …. and so many other things.
I made a little black cat for my kids Halloween bag 🙂 But you can make your cat in any colour you want. So let us get started.
I used Schachenmayr Bravo Yarn with a 3.5 mm hook.
Head:
Chain 4 with your yarn and Slip stitch to form a loop.
Round 1: work 7 single crochet in your loop and Slip stitch in your first single crochet to join (=7sc)
Round 2: work in each stitch 2 single crochet and Slip stitch into your first single crochet to join (=14sc)
Round 3: *work 1 single crochet, 2 single crochet in your next stitch* repeat and Slip stitch into your first single crochet to join (=21sc)
Round 4: *work 2 single crochet, 2 single crochet in your next stitch* repeat and Slip stitch into your first single crochet to join (=28sc)
Round 5: work 28 single crochet and Slip stitch into your first single crochet to join, fasten off
Ear: work it 2 times
Chain 5 with your yarn
Row 1: work 1 single crochet in your second chain from your hook and then single crochet in each stitch across, turn (=4sc)
Row 2: chain 1, work 2 single crochet, then work 2 single crochet together, turn (=3sc)
Row 3: chain 1, work 1 single crochet, then work 2 single crochet together, turn (=2sc)
Row 4: chain 1, work 2 single crochet together and fasten off
Finishing:
As you can see in the picture you have to sew the ears to the head. Embroider the nose and the mouth in light brown, in green the eyes and the whiskers in white.
I gave my little black cat an “evil look” for Halloween, but you can make yours more friendlier, if you like.
Enjoy your little cat 🙂
Wish you all a nice day and see you soon
