How to crochet a Triangle Granny with 4 DC cluster
I am in love with Granny Squares 🙂 …. and the last few days I was playing around with Triangle Granny’s  … they are also so easy to crochet and a perfect way to use up your stash.
I used Schachenmayr Bravo DK yarn with a 3.5 mm hook.
To Begin:
Chain 3 and join with a Slip stitch to form a ring.
Round 1:
You work out of your ring.
Chain 3 (counts as a DC) and work 3 DC in to your ring
Chain 2 and work 4 DC in to your ring
Chain 2 and work 4 DC in to your ring
Chain 2 and join with a Slip stitch in your 3rd chain to close your round. Fasten off.
Now you have your little triangle with 3 DC clusters and with chain 2 spaces between.
Round 2:
You work out of your chain spaces of your previous round.
Join with a new color in a chain space of your previous round and
Chain 3 (counts as a DC) and work 3 DC in this space (part of your first corner cluster)
Chain 1 and work 4 DC, chain 2 and 4 DC in your next chain space (your second corner cluster)
Chain 1 and work 4 DC, chain 2 and 4 DC in your next chain space (your third corner cluster)
Chain 1 and work 4 DC in your first corner cluster, chain 2 and join with a Slip stitch in your 3rd chain to close your round. Fasten off.
Round 3:
You work out of your chain spaces of your previous round.
Join with a new color in a chain space of your corner cluster.
Chain 3 (counts as a DC) and work 3 DC in this space (part of your first corner cluster)
Chain 1 and work 4 DC in your next chain space ( your side cluster)
Chain 1 and work 4 DC, chain 2 and 4 DC in your next chain space (your second corner cluster)
Chain 1 and work 4 DC in your next chain space ( your side cluster)
Chain 1 and work 4 DC, chain 2 and 4 DC in your next chain space (your third corner cluster)
Chain 1 and work 4 DC in your next chain space ( your side cluster)
Chain 1 and work 4 DC in your first corner cluster, chain 2 and join with a Slip stitch in your 3rd chain to close your round. Fasten off.
At this point to see how pretty simple the pattern for a Triangle Granny is. Your round begins and ends in the same corner space … your corner clusters are separated by chain 2 spaces …. and your side clusters are separated by chain 1 spaces.
All your following rounds of your Triangle Granny will follow this pattern … only adding an extra side cluster with each round.
Have fun and happy hooking 🙂
See you soon
Andrea
Tried the triangular granny squares, but mine are not turning out triangular…what am I doing wrong?
Hi Julia …. I do not think that you did anything wrong … Maybe it needs only a little bit of blocking to the right shape?
